Song of the Day! Bikinians – Rhinocirrhosis

Bikinians are up and coming from Belgium

So- so- soooo- addicting! Right from the bat that guitar riff hooks me and then it only gets better. Something about this song gets me pumped and forces me to sing along, even though I only understand about half the lyrics. I can only assume Rhinocirrhosis is pronounced like the animal rhinoceros, but who really cares anyways. Bikinians are an up and coming pop-rock band from Belgium. I remember hearing their amazing song How a few months ago and posting it for my friends. At that time Bikinians had under 1,000 listeners and now they are sitting just above 3,000. Hopefully with enough attention these guys will put out real album effort. Rumors have been going around of an album release at the end of the month but my research has shed no light on any such upcoming release. Until then we’ll have to settle for the short but sweet 4 track Rhinocirrhosis EP.

Song of the Day! Mother Mother – Far In Time

Mother Mother are from none other then Canada

Mother Mother is a band I fell for so long ago.  Their 2008 debut O My Heart is a personal favorite of mine so its only natural for me to be a little hyped by the release of their second album Eureka, released just last month. Mother Mother are indie rockers who know how to blend so many different elements together into nice alternative pop music. Far In Time is just so musically flowing and over all well polished. Most of the songs on Eureka have a constant pace that is quite exciting, yet at the same time relaxing. I may have a personal bias towards Mother Mother, but I’ll defend to the end that more music should be made with the amount passion these guys (and gals) put into their music.

PS: I was gone all weekend so that is why there have not been any new songs the past two days.

Song of the Day! Yip Deceiver – Obnoxia

Yip Deceiver give us Obnoxia from Canada

Here is another hidden gem with less then 500 listeners. This time exploring the always exciting genre of Indietronica. For those of you unsure of what Indietronica is look no further then this very song. Obnoxia is a great example with its synth high note bleeps and electro beats and all the while manages to keep that pacing and lyrical style so integrated in the Indie musical genre I can’t help but to draw comparisons between Yip Deceiver and Passion Pit. To me the Yip Deceivers have all the pep and catchiness of their counter part, but is just a little more tame in the vocal style when compare to the ridiculous falsettos of Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit. Regardless of how much they seem like Passion Pit, Yip Deceiver have all the workings to go off and make a name for themselves in the ever shrinking world of musical variety.

Song of the Day! Dance and Forget – Can I Still Dance

Dance and Forget make us dance and not forget from Sweden

Talk about a hidden gem, according to last.fm this track has been listened to by less then 500 people. Lucky for you I love sharing and Can I Still Dance is definitely a track worth sharing. Right from the start you can tell there is something special going on here. That playful bass draws you in then helps to push you off on a pleasant journey through indie pop land. A catchy chorus and fun filled beat, things don’t get much more blissful then this. The band Dance and Forget are as independent as they come and just put out a self-released album earlier this year named none other then Dance and Forget. With songs like this Dance and Forget can not stay hidden forever and I don’t see how a world exposed to this joyful 7-piece could be such a bad thing.

Song of the Day! The Kills – The Future Starts Slow

The Kills slowly bring us the future from the UK.

EDIT: Seems The Kills record company has taken down Blood Pressures from soundcloud. I will post a secondary link ASAP.

EDIT#2: Well apparently Blood Pressures is no longer available to stream on any service via web. Domino Records has decided to take down the album from all streaming services.

Edit#3: Well i’m not going to leave you hanging high and dry. You guys will have to settle with the equally awesome track Satellite while I wait for Domino Records to take their boot of my face.

The Kills – Satellite

Edit#4: THE BOOT IS BACK ON MY FACE : /

What a hell of a way to kick off a new album! The Kills new album Blood Pressures drops today and what better way the celebrate then to share the album’s brilliant opening track with everyone. This song is dripping with that signature sound I have come to love and associate with The Kills so much. The Future Starts Slow is all about never giving up on the one you care about no matter how hard you have to struggle to keep yourselves afloat. The new album is full of tracks that analyze the dark corners of  relationships and the complex twists and turns encountered as we try to please one another. I have had to joy of being able to listen through all of Blood Pressures and I am very very pleased to say The Kills have a released a solid piece of art that rivals their amazing 2008 albumMidnight Boom. The more I listen, the more it grows and it maybe too early to say but I have a feeling this an album I will associate with “Best of 2011” at some point in my life.
