Song of the Day! The Vaccines – Post Break-Up Sex

The Vaccines want to help you forget your 'Ex' from London

I may be a little late on the game for this one but there was no way of getting around me posting The Vaccines mega-catchy single Post Break-Up Sex. Officially released way back in January, the world has had months for this woe of a lovers tale to soak in and has already seen a release on The Vaccines debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?Post Break-Up Sex is about as catchy as it is a true testament to the troubles of leaving a relationship behind. This chorus will literally not leave your brain alone until you find something more catchy or at least equal to it (And good luck with that!). You just  gotta love the mix of British indie rock and alternative punk that is The Vaccines. These Brits are bound for greatness and have already been nominated for MTV’s Best New Band of 2011 award, not like thats saying much but it’s still a great start.

Song of the Day! The Crookes – Bloodshot Days

The Crookes break hearts from Sheffield

Leave it to some easy going British indie rock to put a smile on my face. Bloodshot Days is like taking nice stroll on a beautiful sunny day, only your accompanied by some wonderful guitar noodling and oh so subtle lyrics about romanticism. The Crookes seem to be good at meshing blissful indie rock with the gushier emotions and thats fine by me. Sometimes it’s nice to sit back and ponder about life, love, and happiness- especially when it’s to the tune of a such talented young band. The Crookes released Bloodshot Days on their debut album Chasing After Ghost on March 28th (My Birthday!) of the this year. Having not heard the album yet I can only speculate what one might find in it’s britpop crevices. Mostly likely you’ll be treated to an array of heart-wrenching foot tappers and catchy indie pop tracks alike.

Song of the Day! Florrie – Call of the Wild

Florrie gives the call of the wild from Bristol, UK

Don’t just play off Florrie like she’s your average British pop singer. Florrie is a bona fide drummer, model, and is now going to pursue a solo singer/songwriter career. On top of it all this Florrie refuses to sign with a major label and distributes all her music free to her fans from her website. The best part about Florrie isn’t that she’s a gorgeous model or even a talented drummer, but that her music is so damn appealing! Have you not heard that sick surf-style guitar slide in Call of the Wild? She brilliantly mixes elements of pop with electro beats and adds some trendy guitar riffs to bring it all together. This is the kind of music I wish broke out into the mainstream, because pop music like this I can more then handle. Call of the Wild can be found on Florrie’s first EP Introduction, which was released last november. Luckily we do not have to wait much longer for another release because according to her website she’ll be releasing her second EP in the coming weeks and like always it will be offered for free via her website.

Song of the Day! Miles Kane – Come Closer

Miles Kane stays solo from the great land of Britain

I had actually never heard of Miles Kane before this beautiful piece of work found its way into my Itunes. Apparently Miles Kane is a vital member of the indie rock duo The Last Shadow Puppets (the other member being Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys) and he recently disbanded his other band The Rascals in order to focus more on his solo career. Believe me when I say I’m glad this catchy little tune landed in my lap. This is just the kind of indie rock I’d expect to see coming from well adept British artist today. It echos the sounds of english rock styles from the past, yet it’s so clean and well polished that you know it’s a product of modern music production. Miles has announced that his debut album Colour Of  The Trap will be released May 9th but not much is known about it otherwise. If most of the tracks are as well put together as Come Closer then Miles Kane will be a name that everyone comes to learn real fast.

Song of the Day! Adele – Rolling In the Deep

Adele gives us her signature soul out of Britain

[UPDATE: Adele grow way beyond the bounds of soundcloud so here is a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw]

Whoa! Move over Florence, Adele is here to claim her title as the best female British singer in today’s musical market. You can just feel the soul and passion flowing out of Adele as she belts out beautiful notes over foot stomping beats in Rolling In the Deep. This is the kind of song that has the ability to transcend genere and excite people of all walks of life. This stuff usually isn’t my cup of tea but after this glorious tune I’m down to see if all the hype is true for Adele’s latest album 21, which was released earlier in January. I hope songs like this will inspire more artist to look back at earlier genres, such as the blues and soul, to influence their future music.
