Little Boots – [Better In The Morning]

Little Boots is an English 'Working Girl' and CEO

Little Boots is one power hungry CEO/Pop Star

Little Boots – Better In The Morning:

English electropoptress Little Boots is transforming the boardroom into a dance floor with her upcoming album Working Girl. Just listen to the latest single Better In The Morning, and you’ll be wanting to take stocks out in Little Boots. Better yet, you could actually invest your time in Little Boots self-made record label On Repeat Records.

If Better In The Morning  is any indication of the impressively addicting electropop in store for us, then I am sure I’ll be sold on everything that is being offered. I’ll go ahead and have my people reach out to your people to work out a pre-order transaction.

Working Girl is out July 10th on a internet capable device near you.

In the meantime, let’s go over this business proposal known as Better In The Morning several more times.

Marian Hill – [Wasted] + [Lips]

Marian Hill - Wasted + Lips

Meet impressive Philadelphia based electronic pop duo Marian Hill.

Marian Hill – Wasted:

Marian Hill are a standout American duo that blend elements of jazz into sultry electronic music. Talented producer Jeremy Lloyd helps give life to the delightful vocals of Samantha Gongol that pierce across every track. One bite from any one of the tempting apples these two have concocted might leave one inoculated with their fresh brand of seductive indie pop. Wasted was the fruit of my downfall, and I suggest that you indulge into it as well.

Lips is another great example of the riptide allure the pair bring to the table. Combining delicious hooks with such a creative free flow of production is sure to gain them some well deserved attention. I just hope that listeners in the States are more prone to Marian Hill’s music than their similar sounding cousin’s across the pond AlunaGeorge. One listen of their newly released Sway EP and somehow I’m not that worried about anyone missing out. All seven tracks carry a special charm that can easily be enjoyed by us all.

Marian Hill – Lips:

Shout out to my local free format radio station 91.5 WPRK for introducing me to this lovely pair and their undeniable grip.

HOLYCHILD – [Running Behind]

HOLYCHILD - Running Behind

Self-described brat pop band HOLYCHILD is the teamwork of Liz and Louie

HOLYCHILD – Running Behind:

HOLYCHILD treat us to a new kind of sugar-coated brashness through their unique brand of over-the-top brat pop. It’s noisy, upbeat, and all up in your face. Very similar to the way the life of the party undoubtedly makes their presence known. With a bite as delicious as Running Behind I’m not sure much can be done to stop the world from discovering and indulging into this creative duo based out of Los Angeles.

With just one EP, titled MINDSPEAK, and a new satisfying single under their belt HOLYCHILD are already well on their way to dominating the American festival circuit this year. With Running Behind being such a promising tune it’s easy to see why this zany team has so many early backers. They have also recently stated that their debut album should see a release in the coming months of 2015. So be prepared for new material to surface from these unconventional up and comers real soon. I have no doubts that the pair will surpass our expectations with candy coated delights for all.

Best Albums of 2014 #4.) Banks – Goddess

Banks - Goddess

released in September 2014 via Harvest Records

No other female vocalist this year dug under my skin as deep as Banks. I’m sure I’m at odds with many, but I’ll stand by my choice to side with her sharp and piercing wit. I don’t think I could ever explain to anyone why Banks cuts into my soul so clean, nor should I ever have to. I’ve been waiting very patiently for the release of Goddess since I first heard the downtempo Warm Water (Snakehips Remix), and I must say her voice stuck out like vein of gold in the up and coming music landscape. After showing so much potential with a handful of other singles, there is little disappointment to be had in the way her debut came out. If dark and brooding electro beats with the voice of a goddess singing along appeal to you, then why not give Banks a try? Well, sometimes you come across a super somber piano track, but all the better right?

Banks certainly does not hold anything back on Goddess as she rips into the many people that have attempted to screw her over in the past. It’s strange how much you want to root for this girl to find a way out of it all, as she is obviously lost in a dark place. Somehow, though, I doubt she’ll be trapped much longer, because she has unknowingly exposed to us just how strong she really can be. I sincerely believe that triumph is coming for Banks and 2015 will most likely be the determining factor in that.

INTERVIEW: Dominique – [It’s Only You]

Dominique - It's Only You

Introducing Dominique, an up and coming poptress of the NYC scene

DOMINIQUE – It’s Only You:

I’m not quite sure if there are enough superlatives to describe the majesticness that Dominique brings to the table. Which for starters is distinguished, yet simple pop music that lacerates the soul. A combination of raw talent and a solid grasp of the fundamentals of pop shall enable her to be enamored by and woo the world with ease. Just you wait and see!

To me, It’s Only You provokes the ghost of a past lover who can’t help but to haunt you. The fragments of whom remain vivid in the mind and still jab at the heart. Dominique’s voice is an ethereal beauty that manifests itself as a collection of reminiscences.  The story may be simple, and we very well may have heard it many times before, but that could never take away from the intrinsic magnificence she brings to this tale. All of this mixed perfectly with lolling beats and an array whimsical tones to achieve wonderful results.

The truth is some people are destined for greatest, and I just happen to believe Dominique is one of them. Which means we are most definitely in store for something truly magical with the impending release of her upcoming EP Chains. No doubt a mixture of excitement and impatience shall plague me until it becomes available for auditory pleasure.

I’m overly delighted and grateful that The Sifting Pan was able to ask Dominique a few questions about her aspiring music career as a pop star. Thanks again for sharing with us!

How long ago did you decide that you wanted to jump into the crazy world of pop music?

I used to write and perform a little in high school, but I stopped for a few years. I started back up almost a year ago.

Was there something particular that finally pushed you in this direction?

I didn’t choose the pop life, the pop life chose me.

No, but really, I always tend to write pop music whether I’m trying to or not.  Pop fascinates me. I’m obsessed with analyzing the melody lines and production of popular music every time I listen to it, and I think this affects me when I sit down to write a song.

Can you share some of your inspirations for writing It’s Only You and your upcoming Chains E.P.?

I was going through a heartbreak, obsessing over lost love. I wanted Chains to tell my story of that.

Is there any new music out there you just can’t get enough of at the moment?

I’m really crazy about that song “Hideaway” that HANAH just put out. I also LOVE Laleh’s new EP.

Finally, if you could collaborate with any other artist on future projects who would you want that to be?

I have always really wanted to work with Charli XCX. She is such a talented songwriter and has been a huge inspiration to me.

Thank you, once again, Dominique  for taking the time to share with The Sifting Pan!

If Dominique continues to create such stellar pop songs, a Charli XCX collaboration may very well become a reality. One that I would personally love to see come to true fruition.
