Rarely does a band capture my imagination and force fascination upon me so swiftly with their phantasmal beats that they have me questioning the very reality of all the other musicians that came before them. The Hundred in the Hands fuse elements of dreamy electro pop with everything one could like about post-punk and indie rock. Their unique music soothes the soul whist setting ablaze a fire that causes uncontrollable urges to move and dance about the room. They are the missing piece to the indie music puzzle that I have so desperately yearned to be filled in my life. Their 2010 debut self-titled album The Hundred in the Hands is like meeting someone for the first time, yet you have seemingly known them your whole life. Two years later and we find ourselves crossing paths with our ‘life-long friends’ once again with their latest single Keep It Low. If this gem of a single is any indication of whats to come then their new album Red Night is sure to please any and all who are familiar with the band and the enormously vast sound they encompass. Actually, I’m willing to bet that Red Night will please even those new and unfamiliar to the enchanting sounds The Hundred in the Hands have to offer.

Hope you brought your smart phone and dancing shoes because Reverend and the Makers are back and have revamped themselves accordingly for our modern times. The head bopping indie electro tack Bassline is the first single off the band’s third and up coming album titled @Reverend_Makers. I really don’t think much else could describe 2012 better then a pseudo club hit and the ‘@’ symbol. Also, I’m pretty sure their new album and twitter account share the same name. While it seems Reverend the Makers are expanding heavily into their electronic side, I have no doubts that the band’s British indie rock roots will come into play on the new album. These guys have a solid track record when it comes to music that simply f—ing rocks and gets you riled up to take your aggression out on the nearest dance floor. Their new album @Reverend_Makers will see a proper release next month, May the 7th. Until then, B-b-b-bassline!

Mint Julep are husband and wife team Hollie and Keith Kenniff who make indie music capable of swooning your soul. There is a perfect layering of Hollie’s haunting and soothing vocals over the various loops, skiffs, and rifts created by the extraordinarily talented ambient instrumentalist Keith Kenniff. The band’s latest single, To The Sea, brings together, in one simply incredible piece of music, everything Mint Julep is about. It is very hard for me to decide what I like more about this track; Hollie’s spot-on entrancing vocals or Keith’s brilliant musical scoring that sets the backbone for this work of art. And do I really even have to decide what aspect I like best? The two just compliment each other so exponentially, giving a damn good reason for the husband and wife to have decided to come together as the collaborative Mint Julep.

To The Sea can be found on the band’s latest album Save Your Season, which saw a release in late November of 2011.

Almost three painstakingly long years now. That’s how long I have been waiting so patiently for a follow up to Dappled Cities 2009 absolutely astonishing art rock/epic indie pop album Zounds. Now it seems as though my prayers have been answered and the knowledge of a new Dappled Cities album has been bestowed upon me. And not just new album knowledge but a full fledged single has surfaced so my level of excitement is quickly reaching critical mass! Run With The Wind is set to be the first single off the forthcoming album, currently only known as LP 4, and gives us some huge insight as to what to expect this time around. You can still hear the same rich multiple layers of progressive sounds that made Zounds so impressive, and from first listen of Run With The Wind it seems the band is willing to experiment even more with artful distortions and purposeful delays. Those signature falsetto vocals one can so easily match with Dappled Cities have found themselves incorporated once again along side finally crafted lyrics of methodological metaphoric madness. I have never been more ready for a new Dappled Cities album in my life and I eagerly await official news of a release date. Expect to hear more about these guys from me in the near future.

Come. Enter. Walk through the glowing dream-like doorway that Superhumanoids provide for us with their overtly enticing music. Throw-back synths and hauntingly docile vocals come together for the prefect blend of dreamy indie pop. The band’s latest track Geri had me hook, line, and sinker from the very first listen. Every aspect of this song compliments itself leaving me to find only perfection and zero faults. The only thing I might have to complain about is that the weaving musical dreamscape that makes up Geri is only a little more then two minutes long. I would love to hear something so magical and moving for a more extended period of time, but I guess a little slice of heaven is better then none. I’ve become terribly excited for Superhumanoids upcoming LP Exhibitionists even though there is no release date in sight. I’m sure all the patience in the world is worth what these dream makers have in store for us on a full album debut.
