Song of the Day! DOM – Living In America

DOM - Living In America

DOM help point out just how sexy it is to be Living In America.

Countless songs have been gnawing away at my brain for the past month or so and finally having a new computer I can get back to sharing the songs that I feel need to be heard. Driven by infectious electro beats, Living In America has been one of those very songs that refused to let my mind be at ease with a what I would call a unique chorus that just feels right to sing along to. DOM has created one of those songs where repetition is never an issue and you might even go as far as hitting the repeat button once (or even twice). What I’m trying to say is that Living In America never really loses its appeal and I’m rather surprised by the lack of hype around this Massachusetts indie pop band. I’m sure with the right spotlight these guys would blow up. There was a decent amount of buzz around the band’s debut EP Sun Bronzed Greek Gods, which features Living In America, but nothing too gripping. Having just released a new EP, Family of Love, the public will once again look at DOM to see if they have what it takes to keep to the high standards they’ve set for themselves. While there are some rather weak tracks on their new EP, I’d like to say that the other strong ones more then make up for it.

Here is the music video for Living In America. Well don’t they just look like they’re having a blast.

Song of the Day! AWOLNATION – Guilty Filthy Soul

AWOLNATION - Guilty Filthy Soul

AWOLNATION thinks you have a Guilty Filthy Soul.

Ok, so I’m sure by now you’ve had your encounter with AWOLNATION’s increasingly popular track Sail, but I’m also sure that the exposure stops there. AWOLNATION is much more then a one hit wonder and is the solo project of talented American Aaron Bruno. AWOLNATION successfully captures a unique style of Alternative rock that makes you want to do a double take. The band’s debut album Megalithic Symphony is full of catchy tracks that are both up and down the spectrum of rock and sanity. This is where we find the wonderful track Guilty Filthy Soul delivered in a sing-yell style similar to Sail, albeit a bit tamer. All the same musical appeal, but in a pill that I think more people can swallow. I’ll admit that i’m not quite all in for AWOLNATION, but the dude writes catchy indie rock that just bleeds passion so I’m helpless not to fall for it. I’m really just looking for something new to get hooked onto so I can stop randomly wanting to shout SAIL!

Sail on over to AWOLNATION’s Facebook page and give them a Like!

Song of the Day! The Subways – It’s A Party

The Subways always make sure It's A Party in England.

Does anybody remember a [not so] little song from back in 2005 called Rock & Roll Queen? Well the same underground British rockers are back from a long absence of music making. The Subways bring a huge level of excitement with their new single I’ts A Party. The new song delivers some pretty heavy indie rock at you upbeat and fast. I’m also pretty sure the song was written to get a crowd all wrawled up so don’t be alarmed when you find your heart beat elevated to the sound of the music. Hopefully more tunes with the idea of partying in mind come our way when The Subways’ new album comes out this September, with the third LP being titled Money & Celebrity.

Official Music Video for It’s A Party by The Subways. Be prepared for the large crowds and elbows.

Like The Subways on Facebook. These guys are bringing back British Alternative Rock the best way possible.

P.S: I hope to have my own computer back soon with all my music on it. Till then I’ll be limited on my new music and might have to revert back to some classic indie gems for awhile.

Song of the Day! Cage The Elephant – Always Something

Cage The Elephant know it's Always Something from Bowling Green, Kentucky

Cage The Elephant have always been something truly great. I mean why else would their music receive so much repeated play in the media? After being constantly barraged with Cage The Elephant’s first album singles since the band gained airplay in 2009, it’s easy to see why so many would be sick of material from these guys. I can’t help but to feel that it should not be like this. Their newest album Thank You, Happy Birthday should have been something for people to embrace and enjoy, not just acknowledge the hit song Shake Me Down and move on. There is much more to their sophomore album then one might first perceive and I decided that maybe I had sold myself short by not acquiring the album in full sooner.

I stopped by my [not so] local record store to see what discount CDs I could pick. (It’s a damn shame that no one still buys CDs.) After spending a 30 minutes walking through the CDs in alphabetical order I finally made the decision to go with Cage The Elephant’s Thank You, Happy Birthday and ANR‘s Hearts. I left the store and immediately popped my new Cage The Elephant CD into my car’s stereo. I was sent off into the twisted and estranged musical realm created by the sounds of the first track off of Thank You, Happy Birthday, Always Something. With it’s sharp lyrics and mysterious melody I was sold on the spot for this new Cage The Elephant. What a hell of a way to start an album! Trust me when I say the creativity and lyrical superiority did not stop there. Track by track I was gifted with alternative rock awesomeness as I drove home thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. I can’t recommend enough that you pick up Thank You, Happy Birthday again and give it a proper go this time. It’s busting with real energy and talent at the seams.

Note: There was no way to get Always Something on Soundcloud so I did a work around through Grooveshark. Please let me know if the player does not function properly.

Song of the Day! Summer Heart – Please Stay

Summer Heart is asking us to Please Stay from Malmö, Sweden

I’m being honest when I say chillwave is a genre I don’t dive into much, but I have no choice but to make an exception for the alluring sounds of Summer Heart. Something about the steady beats and relaxing flow of Please Stay has me hooked and wanting more. This wonderful laid-back tune is perfect for summer car rides to the beach or lounging about in the cool AC of your room whilst doing some light summer reading. Anyway you look at it Please Stay was made to be enjoyed during summer time activities where you can get this most out of its glowing dream pop. Looking further into Summer Heart reveals the band to be the solo project of the very talented Swedish citizen David Alexande. Never Let Me Go is Summer Hearts debut and self released 7-track album, which can be listened to in full and purchased at Summer Hearts’ Bandcamp here: http://summerheart.bandcamp.com. Artist like this need our support so head over and drop a measly $5 to make your summer, and Summer Hearts, that much better.
