Song of the Day! The Wombats – Jump Into The Fog

The Wombats have been in hibernation for far too long. They first came onto the scene in 2007 with their quirky album A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation and their hit single Let’s Dance To Joy Division. Now fast forward nearly 4 years later and we find ourselves on the brink of The Wombats second album release This Modern Glitch. Jump Into The Fog is the second single from the upcoming album and from the sound of it The Wombats have not lost their creative whimsical touch. Catchy chorus lines and up-paced beats that keep me from sitting still most likely await on This Modern Glitch, which will be out April 25.

Song of the Day! Jon Fratelli – Rhythm Doesn’t Make You A Dancer


Jon Fratelli brings us his solo style from Glasgow

There is something really catchy about about the simple indie rock song Rhythm Doesn’t Make You A Dancer. That chorus line pierces right through me and hooks me back in every time with the statement- Put your money right where your mouth is, Don’t go deaf or blind just to find this. Jon Fratelli has plenty of experience in writing crowd pleasers as he was a main member of the popular alternative band The Fratellis (Best known for the song Flathead). Jon has also recently disbanded his mildly successful Fratellis side project Codine Velvet Club (Best known for the song Hollywood) in pursuit of a career as a solo artist. If Mr. Fratelli is capable of continuing to deliver little gems like this one then going solo is looking like it just might pay off. His debut album Psycho Jukebox is set to be released sometime this June.

Song of the Day! The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – The Golden Age

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour keep us happy from Copenhagen, Denmark

Blissful indie percussion-based pop makes The Asteroids Galaxy Tour always a joy to indulge in. That unique voice likes to put a massive grin on my face as I can’t help but feel as bubbly as the music does. The Golden Age is a track that is by no means new, since it was originally released in late 2009 on the band’s debut album Fruit, but it is a song that did not quite get attention at the time due to the success of the band’s Ipod commercial featured single Around the Bend. Now The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have released The Golden Age EP which features three new tracks and two different versions of The Golden Age itself. The EP actually wasn’t due for release until April 18th but due to a leak on the inter-webs the band as decided to drop it early.

Song of the Day! Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill


Sleigh Bells keep it loud from Brooklyn, New York

It’s not very often I go from being puzzled by a band to loving pretty much everything they are about. At first I just didn’t get Sleigh Bells and pretty much thought their music was made to destroy speakers with ridiculously loud instrument and vocal distortion. But it didn’t take long for me to realize the Sleighs Bells is all about standing up and out from the rest, to take your voice and cause and raise it up high to be heard by all. Rill Rill is actually their most repressed song, but I love it all the more for its it’s laid back and drifting along attitude. If you want the true loud and in your face Sleigh Bells I suggest you look to their album Treats, it’s full of amazing tracks you’ll wonder how you ever made it this long without.

Song of the Day! Death Cab For Cutie – You Are A Tourist


Death Cab For Cutie came together in Washington

Every time I hear that a new Death Cab For Cutie album is coming out I always get really excited and always a little worried. Death Cab For Cutie haven’t put out anything earth shattering since before Narrow Stairs so I think it’s fairly reasonable to have to some doubt that their newest album will exceed the high expectations the band sets for itself. Then I heard the single You Are A Tourist and I think this song is grounds to dismiss all doubt that their new album Codes and Keys will disappoint. There is a this new tone to Death Cab, it seems so familiar yet elusive and echos the style of Ben Gibbard’s reputable side project The Postal Service. If even half the tracks on the new album can get me as excited as this one then I will be ready to say for sure that Death Can For Cutie is back in business. Codes and Keys will be out this summer May 31.
