Song of the Day! Metronomy – The Look

Metronomy bring us laid back electronic music from Devon, England

I’m going to slow things down a bit today and show off one of my favorite discoveries of recent times. Just the other month I came across the not so little band of Metronomy and their latest single The Look. The song just has that ambient chill pacing and a nice shuffle beat that keeps me in a relaxed state of mind. From what i’ve read into, this soft and casual electronic music style is only the norm for Metronomy and I’m perfectly down for some tranquil electro pop. I just so happens that today is the day Metronomy releases their new album The English Riviera in the United States, the UK saw a release last Tuesday. So if this song is closer to your musical taste and style then I’d highly recommend looking further into The English Riviera, I sure as hell know I’m going to.

Song of the Day! Strange Talk – Climbing Walls

Strange Talk are climbing walls in Melbourne, Australia

Indie Synth-pop just holds this special place in my heart so any song that exemplifies the genre sparks my interest. Climbing Walls has that very upbeat electro backbone that supports so well the good time notion the song tries so hard to portray. For some reason I want to draw comparisons to the Klaxons or maybe Penguin Prison, but Strange Talk has enough going on for them we can leave these other artist back home and focus on the unique blend of electronic and pop these guys deliver so well. Strange Talk have been hard at work all 2010 putting together an EP for the public. Well now their work has payed off and just earlier this week the EP saw its release in the band’s home country of Australia. Unfortunately the EP won’t see a US/UK release until April 25th, so until then you can catch most of the Strange Talk EP streaming on soundcloud and/or youtube.

Song of the Day! Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers

Lykii Li puts us under a spell from Sweden

Lykke Li is not someone to easily be forgotten. The unique blend of indie dance and elctropop, along with being an incredibly talented songwriter, makes Lykke Li a force to be reckoned with. I Follow Rivers has that kind of primordial beat that just captures your attention and proceeds to seductively hold it. Li’s vocals seem a bit rugged but in my opinion it only makes the track stronger. Her newest album Wounded Rhymes came out early last month and has a lot to offer in terms of songs that will put you in a hypnotic trance of awesomeness. If your looking for something a little more upbeat to get moving to I’d suggest looking into the album’s first single Get Some.
