Song of the Day! Kings of Leon – Pyro

The Kings Of Leon formed in Tennessee

I was really taken aback by King of Leons latest album Come Around Sundown. I did not expect to go track by track through the album and find a solid tune each time, but hey them Leons sure showed me. To be honest Come Around Sundown has easily become one of my favorite albums of 2010 and for me it beats Only By The Night as far as KOL albums go. An overall relaxed and laid back tone is present throughout Come Around Sundown, the perfect vibe for a nice easy going car ride or to just simply sit down and enjoy the mellow feeling. Pyro is a great example of what their latest album has to offer and I highly recommend you do yourself a favor and check out their other new songs.

Song of the Day! Kids of 88 – My House

Kids of 88 hail from New Zealand

Kids of 88 – My House:

New Zealand has been dishing out all sorts of good indie acts the past year, Kids of 88 being just one of them. I wanted to make sure everyone gets a taste of the craziness that is My House, which is a hot single that has been floating around the past year gaining immense amounts of hype. The beats come fast and the lyrics just as quick. Songs like this get me pumped and have my attention held throughout. I will defiantly be looking into their debut album Sugarpills which came out late 2010.

Song of the Day! Vampire Weekend – Giant

Last year Vampire Weekend gave the world Contra and I believe everyone took it with open arms seeing as how it debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Personally Contra is an album that I enjoy listening to each and every time and was defiantly high on my best of 2010 list. The world music style they imposed in the album was just so pleasant to hear and the sheer amount of singles on it also added to the enjoyment. This song is an awesome bonus track not released on the main album. I believe it was made available only to Itunes purchasers, but as the way the internet food chain works now-a-days it has made itself available to everyone.

Song of The Day! The Black Keys – Sinister Kid

The Black Keys have sure showed everyone what some heart and blues can do in todays over-saturated music market. Walking away with 3 Grammy awards is a a pretty big way to set yourself out from the crowd. I do rather hope, though, people are already aware of the bounty of amazing songs present on Brothers. Sinister Kid is one of those album tracks you probably haven’t gotten around to hearing, so do yourself a favor and take a listen this song about a demented youth.

Song of the Day! Tricky – Murder Weapon

Tricky garnishes his Murder Weapon in England

Duh-na-nuh-na-nuh-na-nuh-na-nuh[x2] Is that the Blues Brothers I hear?  In this reworking of the orignal dancehall hit ‘Murder Weapon’, Tricky combines the Peter Gunn Theme with his and Frankly Riley’s vocals to create something they can call their own. I don’t know if it’s the simple lyrics about guns or the catchy and recognizable bassline that makes this track stand out, but I’m all about this track right now. So just turn it up loud and cruise around town and see how difficult it is not to sing along and feel like a boss. You can get this and more from Tricky’s latest album Mixed Races which came out last fall.
